My name is Ken Purdy and I am the state representative for the
COHT in Georgia. My family and I live in Montezuma, GA and have been doing living history for about 5 years. It is a great hobby and learning opportunity. During these past five years I have acquired the skills
of blacksmithing, braintanning, flint knapping, and a few other
primative skills. My children and I have learned more about the true
history of this country during this time , than most normal folks will
ever know. It has been a great experience.
We as a group do several
living history demonstrations for the public each year at places such
as Stone Mountain Park, Chehaw Park, Westville, Fort Yargo State Park, and we now have several other opportunities presenting themselves in the future.
The Georgia COHT does several skills classes each year on a
variety of subjects, dictated by the wishes of the membership. Some
past ones have been brain tanning, Wild edible and Medicinal plants,
and others as well. In addition we attend several large events at
historic site throughout the southeast, as well as doing several
period hunts and treks.
If I can be of any help in any way please do not hesitate to
contact me. I can be reached by e-mail me at ga-rep@coht.org. I will be
glad to answer any questions you might have, or just talk if that's
what you want to do. I look forward to meeting you in person. Until
then I remain.
-- Your most humble servant,
Ken Purdy |
