Welcome to the official website of the New York Chapter on the Coalition of Historical Trekkers. Here the history of the American frontier comes alive as we rediscover the skills and knowledge of a bygone era, through academic research and its application through "experimental archeology". The result is a deeper and more well-rounded understanding of the past- and far more fascinating than anything learned soley in the classroom. Our members often go into the woods with only the clothing and gear of their chosen time period, and strive to recover the woodsmanship skills lost in our era of synthetic sleeping bags and tents, camp stoves, and freeze-dried food.
